Batteries and Special Occasions

Tonight I write this post from our basement, with Binx under my chair and Mika curled up next to me on a blanket. Why are we down in the basement and not the warm, comfy couch upstairs like every night? Sweet, precious Mika decided few days go that it would be a good idea to chew completely through my laptop's wall charger, and that old thing does not turn on without the cord. So now I am without a laptop and forced to sit in the basement to write my blog so that my two fans are not disappointed. Tom just bought a brand new desk top computer a couple weeks ago and it's pretty cool, one of those all-in-one flat monitors that is touch screen and completely wireless so I am getting to test it out now. I guess that's a plus to my laptop being dead right now ;)

Anyways, this weekend was very relaxing and "wonderful" as my grammi would say. Saturday we took a trip out to the Yankee Candle factory in Deerfield Mass and spent a couple hours walking around looking at everything. It is a Christmas-lovers dream store (which I am!). Santa is there 24/7, there is a Christmas Bavarian village, a room where it "snows" every four minutes, and so many Christmas decorations and ornaments that they personalize for FREE! We got three of the cutest ornaments; one for Mika (she already has two from last year but oh well), one or Binx, and one for our wedding. After Yankee Candle we realized we were hungry and Tom started talking about this incredible deli up in Vermont, half an hour away. We ended up driving up there to have this great food which I ended up hating, but the drive was amazing. New England is gorgeous in the fall due to the leaves changing colors, and we just happened to drive through three of the states, it was a very scenic drive :) Anyways, here are our ornaments:

Sunday I decided while grocery shopping that I wanted to paint pumpkins, so we bought two pumpkins and some paint. Tom is not very artistic so he just bought the necessary tools and let me go at it. A couple hours later and a ton of black paint later, my pumpkins were ready for their big debut outside our door. Remember how in my first post I talked about how much I love my animals? My brother saw my pumpkins and called me weird, but I think they are cute (and so does Tom) :)

Today it was back to work but also two special occasions in the Kuhns family.
  1. We've been married a month today! I can't believe it's already been a month, I feel like it was just yesterday I was standing in the bridal suite, nervous and excited, waiting to go meet my groom at the end of the aisle. Our photographer finally finished up with our pictures and sent me a link so I spent a lot of time looking through all of them today, they are SO good. If anyone in the CT/NY area is looking for a photographer for any occasion, check out Donna Cheung, you will not be disppointed!
  2. My sweet little muffin man Binx turned one today! I remember that cold day early January when I raced to beat a snow storm and drove out to the middle of nowhere to pick up my little guy from the shelter he was at. He was so little and so scared and there were several times those first few weeks I thought he'd never come out from under the guest bed, but here we are nine months later and he is the sweetest most snuggly boy :) Here is a photo from hours after I got him home from the shelter:

Well that's about it for now. It's getting late and my fingers are frozen so I will leave you with a song to listen to called "You Already Know" by Train. It's a very fun, angry song and I always get pumped up listening to it so I thought I would share! Enjoy :)

Sleepwalking, Snuggles, and Favorite Things

Hello there blogging world! Remember in my last post how I talked about my sleepwalking problem and how every now and then I start yelling "oh my god!" in my sleep? Welcome to Tom's world last night! I just knew going to bed that it was not going to be a good night, I felt very anxious. Sure enough, about half an hour after we had fallen asleep, I woke Tom up yelling "Oh my God!" a couple times. He always tells me that one night he'll do something back and this time I had made him mad enough, so he waited a couple minutes and yelled back "Oh my God!". I don't remember hearing him yell that but whatever makes him feel better about himself ;) .

So now it is Thursday which means the Boston Bruins home opener (Tom is a HUGE fan, we will be watching every single game as always) and Jersey Shore. I know, I hate it as much as the next person, but it's so hard to not watch. Three more episodes left and it's over, woop! Anyways, we are snuggling on the couch watching hockey and Mika is curled up next to me when all of a sudden Binx jumps her and starts licking her all over. He's the sweetest little guy, wrapping his arms around Mika cleaning her. I was able to catch a cute picture of them behaving so here you go

I wanted to write more tonight but unfortunately it's almost 10 here and you know what that means.....T SHIRT TIIIIIIIME! Anyways, as I said in my last post I love listening to music, so I figure why not share some of my favorite songs with you each post? The first song I will share with you is called "Brick by Brick" by Train. This song is one of my favorite songs off their new album, the lyrics really get to me. Enjoy!

Interesting Facts and Couch Potatoes

Tonight I am writing this blog while watching a Coldplay concert on tv (love them), and snuggling under a blanket. Mika has had a very long, stressful day of sleeping, staring at her automatic food bowl, doing the Shiba 500 around our bedroom and being attacked by the vacuum, so she is now passed out on the couch. I forgot one of her most popular nicknames that she is called often..."Lazy Bom-Bom". It started out as lazy bum because she sleeps more than the cat even though she gets absolutely no exercise, but everything I say ends up coming out in baby-talk when being said to animals, so now she's Lazy Bom-Bom. Or when I get really into it, Lazy Bom-Bom-Bom-Bom-Bom. Ugh, I'm too obsessed with my animals...anyways, I was able to catch a picture of my lazy Bom-Bom lounging around, watching Coldplay with me. She's pretty adorable, but I'm completely biased.

Now that I've gotten the cute story out of the way for the day, let's get down to business. This is only my second post and I'm pretty sure I only have one follower at the moment so I need to try and entice everyone that this is the blog to check out (who wouldn't want to see cute pics of Mika anyways?). I figured for my second post I would dig a little deeper and reveal some interesting facts about myself, including some thing that really get me going. As I always say to my co-workers when it's time for lunch, "LETS DO THIS!". And now, ladies and gentlemen, the first installment of random information about me:
  1. I am a sleepwalker. I never used to be but over the past several years this title has consumed my life. It started when I was in high school and has gotten worse year after year, to the point that Tom doesn't wake up anymore when I do or say something weird because he's so used to it. Every now and then I get a rise out of him, like the nights I start yelling out "Oh my god!" *pause* "Oh my god!". On those nights I'm told he screams back at me"SHUT UP!", which I have no recollection of. Along with sleepwalking and sleeptalking, I also have night terrors, which started occurring a little over three years ago while I was home in Oregon for the summer. When these "night terrors" occur, I always see the same thing, the dark shadow of a person. Sometimes it's standing over me, sometimes it's at the foot of the bed, one time it was even hiding behind the curtains, its toes peeking out from underneath. Am I scaring you? I will stop now, I just wanted to explain why the blog has it's specific name ;) On to happier topics!
  2. I love the holidays. I'm SO excited for Christmas, I can't wait to get out the decorations and send out Christmas cards and go shopping for presents, it's so exciting! I guess maybe I'm also excited for the first snow fall, but that's it, none of this "record winter" like we had last year please.
  3. I love music, all sorts of music. Country music, Disney music, Christmas music, pop, 70s, 90s, boy band, alternative, you name it. My favorite groups are Maroon 5 and Train, I listen to their CDs on repeat in my car and on my iPod, they're SO great.
  4. I love babies. It scares Tom how googly-eyed I get but I don't care ;) If you are my friend and have a baby, I am most likely stalking your Facebook pictures looking at all the cute baby pictures. Is that weird? Should I not confess that? Eh, who doesn't love babies anyways...
  5. I have a MAJOR sweet tooth, if that even explains it. It never used to be this way, then all of a sudden I had a drawer in the kitchen designated to candy and was going through bags of candy weekly. I could eat candy for every meal of the day and be perfectly content (and I've never had a cavity! Impressive huh?). Some of my favorites are Happy Cola, Starburst, candy corn pumpkins, Reeses Peanut Butter Cups, basically all candy. It is an addiction and I do admit to it, so at least I'm not in denial. Mmmmm...candy....
Well that's about it for tonight. I'm the only one left downstairs so I guess it must be bedtime! Thanks for taking the time to read this fellow bloggers, hopefully you are entertained so far! Ciao :)

Welcome! Allow Me to Introduce Myself...

Hello everyone, my name is Kenzi :) I am 22 (23 in January, woop!) and am married and live in Connecticut. I spent my entire life in Tigard Oregon until I turned 18, realized I didn't really like all the rain, and decided to head to New England for school...hence why I now live in CT ;) Anyways, this is me (before our wedding ceremony, looking FIERCE. haha)

And then there is Tom, my brand new husband as of 9/10/11! I met Tom on one of the popular social media pages a couple months before college began and added him so that I could find out more about the school I was about to attend (he was a Junior at SNHU at the time). The second day I was on campus Tom and I met up, four days later we were "official", two days later we said "I love you", and four years later we were married :) We have our ups and downs but I wouldn't trade it-or him- for the world!

Lastly, there are our wonderful "children" Mika and Binx. Mika is our sweet little Shiba Inu who also responds to "Monster Mouth", "Moo Moo", "Sugar Mama" "Sugar Baby", and anything other random name I manage to come up with. She is our first baby, we got her December 17th 2009 and our lives haven't been the same since. She will be the theme of many of my blogs I am sure, as she is always doing something funny/interesting/infuriating/sweet :) We just celebrated her second birthday on 9/30, and she was very spoiled! Anyways, meet Ms. Mika
Binx is our handsome little Halloween kitty that came into our lives very unexpectedly. Neither of us are what you might consider "cat people", but when I had a dream about rescuing a little kitten I knew it was something I had to do, so I went out and adopted Binxy! My sweet little muffin man will be turning one this coming Monday the 10th, and there will of course be some sort of celebration. Here is Binx

Aren't they adorable?!? Anyways, that is my little family. Over the next few posts I will continue to introduce myself and my life, as well as explain the title of my blog. After all, it's probably one of the main reasons you decided to check out my blog, isn't it? ;)
